アイリッシュトラッドの名曲「Raglan Roadラグランロード」を取り上げてみました。このように伝統音楽とはまことに懐が深い。
最近ロリーナ・マッケニットのマイブーム再燃で良く仕事のBGMとして聞いていますが、ロリーナのRaglan Roadもとても良いです。もともとこの歌は男性から女性への歌なのですが、ロリーナはHerをHimに変えて女性から男性への歌として歌っている。
シネイド・オコナーの押さえたヴァージョン。感動的。With ドーナル・ラニー、デイヴィー・スピラーン、そして彼女の現在の夫であるスティーブ・クーニーの姿も見えます。懐かしい！

が、やっぱり圧巻はこの人だな。やっぱりwith チーフタンズ！（ベースが若い日のジェイムス・ブレナハセットだというのが笑える…髪の毛のあるジェイムス初めてみた！）
ヴァンは何度か生で観てますが，こんなにかっこよく、ノリノリの歌、聞いたことないよ！ やっぱり例えば５夜連続ライブで５回みないとダメって事かしら。それにしても素晴らしい歌。そしてチーフタンズも本当に素晴らしい。
それにしてもこれだけのアーティストにインスピレーションを与えるという、この曲のもつ、独特なセンティメントが良いですな。曲は伝統曲でもともとのタイトルをDawning of the dayと言いました。何百年か後にパトリック・キャバナが歌詞をつけてRaglan Roadになったわけ。タイトルは実在するダブリンの道の名前。どっちにしろPublic Domainなので、●ャスラックに何か言われる事も無し！というわけで歌詞も添付します。しみじみ味わいながら聞いてください。
